People ask us this a lot. If Label One is a Shopify theme, why is it not on the Shopify Theme Store? The answer is that we chose to sell it directly. It gives us more control over the product and a much better relationship with the people who use it.
How we got here
We actually submitted Label One to the Shopify Theme Store early on. It is a rigorous review process, and we had a few things to clean up. Nothing surprising for a first submission. By the time we had everything sorted, we had started to realize the marketplace model was not the best fit for what we were building. This is why we chose to sell direct instead.
Selling direct lets us build what you actually need
The biggest reason we sell outside the Shopify store is simple. We talk to everyone who buys Label One. We know who our customers are. We hear what they need. When someone requests a feature, we can consider it, build it, and ship it without a third party deciding whether it fits a roadmap we did not choose.
We believe the people who use Label One know what they need better than anyone else. Selling direct means the feedback loop is short. You tell us what is not working. We fix it. You tell us what you wish existed. We can actually build it.
To be clear, we are not going to implement every request for free all the time. But hearing what people actually run into is still the best way we know to make the theme better, and we do pay attention.
More independence, more flexibility
Label One is not our only source of income. We are a Shopify agency first, and the theme is one part of how we help stores ship faster and sell more. That gives us the freedom to make decisions based on what is best for the product and the people using it, not on what a marketplace demands.
The Shopify Theme Store is built for a different kind of transaction. It works well for merchants looking for a quick solution. But our best customers tend to be agencies and store owners who want a longer relationship. They want to be part of how the theme grows. That is harder to do when there is a marketplace between us.
What this means for you
Buying Label One means you are buying from us directly. There is no extra layer between your purchase and the people building the theme. When you have a question, you talk to us. When you have an idea, we hear it. When we release an update, it is because we saw something that needed to improve.
We built Label One for the kind of customers who care about who makes their tools. If that sounds like you, we are glad you found us.
